After months of development and testing in the factory, Hyliion has purchased a brand new Volvo D13 Tractor: the truck is a sleeper model with all of the finer accouterments like an in-cab refrigerator and microwave, allowing for extensive testing of overnight power consumption and reliability. Hyliion can now test and improve all aspects of the suspension system in the real world, from fuel consumption and maintenance requirements, to Auxiliary Power Unit performance and electronic stability control. DYNO TESTING & EARLY RESULTS

Jan 2016 - Using proceeds from a variety of recent business plan and innovation competition wins, Hyliion has begun testing the prototype suspension system on a dynamometer at the Pittsburgh Power testing lab. Early results have come in and we are excited to see our early projections are well within reach. A dynamometer measures force, torque and/or power that a engine puts out. Using complex mathematical models and forecasting software, Hyliion initially predicted an additional torque of 500 ft. lbs. provided by the suspension system, in addition to a 30% reduction in on-the-road fuel consumption and up to 30 hours...
