Job purpose

The product management and marketing leader role is responsible for leading overall product strategy and market positioning for Hyliion’s Karno Generators to drive adoption and penetration in targeted market segments globally. This role will be responsible for evaluating market trends, application needs, competitive landscape and connecting market data to generate cohesive product strategies and roadmaps, and marketing plan to grow the business. Senior director role will work closely with engineering, sales, channel and supplier partners, operations, and the leadership team to evaluate business opportunities, bring differentiated products to the market, and grow customer demand.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Develop and own the Hyliion product portfolio and market positioning for Karno Generators in the targeted business segments/ regions.
  • Collaborate and develop effective business strategy through market trend analysis including competitive products, regulatory and legislative developments and technological advances.
  • Establish long-term product strategies and define the areas of priorities in product roadmaps. Focus on improving revenue and margins by balancing objectives of growth and profitability through effective product management. Collaborates effectively with internal teams to ensure technology development plans are aligned with established roadmap and financial objectives.
  • Interfaces with internal (operations, engineering, commercial) and external teams (customers, regulatory agencies, supplier, channel partners) to ensure that key market requirements and product needs are incorporated into Hyliion’s decisions.
  • Owns the value package profile for Karno Generators and works with technical and commercial team to develop customer facing information repository, marketing collateral and sales enablement tools. Responsible for the global commercialization of New Product Introductions (NPIs).
  • Actively participate in industry discourse and engages in the regulatory process where applicable and promote distributed energy resources, clean energy initiatives and energy transition.
  • Develops and owns marketing strategies to position Karno Generators effectively in the targeted application segments, and actively leans in to guide decisions related to channel development, price and brand positioning.
  • Work closely with cross-functional teams to align marketing strategies with broader brand and communication goals, incorporating the unique aspects of industry maturity, application needs and product fit.
  • Build and develop talent within the product management and marketing organization.
  • Ability to travel, up to 25%.

 

Qualifications

Education

  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering or business is a must. MBA in marketing and strategy strongly preferred.
  • Minimum 12+ years of experience working in sales, product management, marketing or related position in the electrical industry.

 

Specialized knowledge/Professional Certifications (preferred)

  • Understanding and experience within the electrical industry. Strong experience or background in distributed energy industry serving a global customer base.
  • Experience in product management, product planning, developing multi-generation technology roadmap, market analysis and channel development.
  • Excellent understanding of the electrical industry value chain. Knowledge of microgrid design, development and industry engagement key
  • Demonstrated experience in building strong relationship with industry stakeholders and making informed business decisions.
  • Demonstration of a strategic mindset – new product commercialization, global expansion, market development.
